Buffalo Trace Bourbon
Buffalo Trace Bourbon is a really classy bourbon from the eponymous distillery that has been responsible for some truly outstanding products in recent years. A must-stock for any bar worthy of the name and probably the best all-rounder at the price
The flagship bourbon of the distillery has been produced for more than 200 years utilizing the same method. A mash of yellow #2 dent corn, plump rye grains, and malted barley is used to make Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. The mixture is cooked, cooled, and then fermented for around three to five days. Following completion of fermentation, the bourbon is double-distilled using column stills and then matured in first-fill American oak barrels (of which 90% come from the Ozark Mountains) that have been extensively charred for six months in the distillery’s yard.
Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
No more than 40 barrels are hand-selected at a time to produce a single, small batch of Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey after the barrels have been aged for at least eight years. The barrels are kept on the middle floors of the distillery’s warehouses to allow for the biggest temperature fluctuations.
The 2014 New York World Wine & Spirits Competition Double Gold Medal and the 2014 International Wine & Spirits Competition Gold Medal went to Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
About Buffalo Trace
Buffalo Trace Distillery, which is situated in Frankfort, Kentucky, on the Kentucky River, gets its name from an old route that buffalo used to move west during their migration. After pioneers crossed the Ohio River and followed the buffalo path to the Western frontier, the trail gained notoriety among Native Americans.
Renowned distillers including E.H. Taylor, Jr., George T. Stagg, Albert B. Blanton, Orville Schupp, and Elmer T. Lee have left their rich legacies at Buffalo Trace Distillery, the oldest continuously running distillery in the United States. Operating on the same 130 acres of land next to the Kentucky River for more than 200 years, the distillery is still family-owned today.
